We hope that all of you had an enjoyable weekend and sunny holidays. Due to excessive egg painting sessions the top posts were delayed this week, we beg your pardon.
Let’s get started. The english top post were flooded by people reminding the Facebook communities where Easter originated from. Many posts thanked Jesus for his sacrifice or quoted the bible, one of them even ended up being part of the Top5 of the week and managed to collect over 950k likes.
Apart from religious contributions, not much happened regarding the holidays. Barely any season specific lotteries, no pictures of cute bunnies hiding eggs or anything else most people relate to when thinking of Easter. The only thing we could manage to find was this… and it doesn’t look like a hare to us.
That’s also the reason why the most successful post of last week had nothing to do with the Easter celebrations, but instead with a boy who recently graduated high school and managed to get into college.
But why is that something special and ended up being such a big hit? Well, mainly because the story is about a kid with down syndrome. Getting accepted into college is a tough thing to accomplish when you have a mental disability. But the real reason it ended up gaining so much attention was the youtube video that recorded his reaction when opening the letter of acceptance. The only time we are this happy is when a newly implemented feature instantly works without generating any errors.
Another really successful post had to do with burgers, or to be precise: A Dream of Burgers (we should probably patent that in case someone ever wants to make a fast food movie.)
This smartly placed ad ended up accomplishing the exact thing the marketer wanted it to. Another extraordinary campaign by McDonalds.
Also widely considered an interesting post: A reminder that we went through a Palindrome Week, something we personally hadn’t even heard of before.
This contribution got shared more than a 170k times. A pretty big achievement considering that it was published by a local radio station.
We found the lack of bunnies disturbing though. That’s why we present to: An Eagle… who probably ate a lot of them in his lifetime.
