Surprisingly, the international top post are becoming something completely different than the german ones: While the amount of funny, amusing and joyful posts decrease every week, the focus on more serious posts skyrockets.
Especially interesting: The success of news stations from all over the US.
Local stations end up being way more successful than the biggest networks, the ones even people overseas know. A clear pattern is not visible. Shocking news are as successful and pleasant ones. Sports as successful as politics. International Facebook seems to shift away from cat and meme pictures to more world-shaking topics.
National pride is another big thing that is almost always part of the most successful posts of a week. Last friday the citizens of the United States celebrated the 4th of July. America’s independence day always is a big deal, even more so on social media. And for an event such as this one, even some funny posts end up being popular.
Rockets stand for freedom, right?
Speaking of rockets, how about observing exploding fireworks from a close range? Definitely dangerous and nice to look at.
Nice to look at also was one of the major topics last week.
A question we ask ourselves is whether news and nature-related posts simply are so popular, or if funny pictures aren’t successful enough to consistently make it into the top posts. Sure, some of them manage to go viral, but the majority discusses more serious matters.
But there’s one thing that never changes: No matter where you’re from, puppies will always be a hit.
